Answer : A mediator should possess certain basic qualities which include
a) Complete, genuine and unconditional faith in the process of mediation and its efficacy.
b) Ability and commitment to strive for excellence in the art of mediation by constantly updating skills and knowledge.
c) He should have patience, persistence and perseverance, good communication skill, open mindedness and flexibility.

Question : What is the role of Mediator in the mediation process?

Answer : A mediator has two types of role in the mediation process:-
i) Facilitative Role - Mediator facilitates the process of mediation by creating conducive environment for the mediation process by explaining the process and its ground rules.
ii) Evaluative Role – Mediator performs an evaluative role by helping and guiding the parties to evaluate their cases and by assisting the parties to evaluate the options for settlement.
